Seasonal Crew Leader
The Lighting Company | Niceville, Florida
Competitive Hourly Pay, Based on Experience | Seasonal: September–January | Performance Bonuses | Advancement Opportunities
Since 2003, The Lighting Company has designed, installed, and maintained award-winning outdoor lighting and holiday décor throughout the Gulf Coast and Southeast. We proudly serve municipalities, commercial properties, resorts, and luxury residences that expect exceptional quality—and we hold ourselves to that same standard.
We’re seeking Seasonal Crew Leaders who are dependable, technically capable, and ready to take ownership of a crew and a job site. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for installation quality, crew performance, vehicle and equipment readiness, and completing jobs on time and to standard.
This position exists to ensure every installation we complete reflects the quality our clients expect and our reputation depends on.
Crew Leaders report directly to the General Manager and are the on-site representative of The Lighting Company. When you’re on a property, you are the company in the client’s eyes.
Primary Responsibilities
Job Quality & Execution
· Lead the installation, service, and takedown of holiday lighting and décor
· Ensure every job meets our quality standards before leaving the site
· Complete jobs on time and within the timeframes allotted
· Read and follow job plans, layouts, and client specifications accurately
· Troubleshoot lighting, timers, controllers, and electrical connections in the field
· Inspect completed work and correct issues before they become client complaints
Crew Leadership
· Direct and supervise a crew of two to four team members on daily assignments
· Set the pace, the standard, and the tone for the crew
· Ensure professional crew behavior and appearance on every job site
· Enforce safety practices, including ladder safety, lift operation, and electrical safety
· Communicate clearly with the General Manager on job status, delays, and issues
· Train and develop crew members in proper installation technique
Vehicles & Equipment
· Keep assigned vehicles stocked, clean, organized, and ready for the next job
· Oversee loading and unloading of trucks and trailers at the start and end of each day
· Account for all tools, equipment, and materials at the end of every shift
· Report equipment damage, vehicle issues, and repair needs promptly
· Safely operate—or become certified to operate—aerial lifts and forklifts
Client Interaction
· Represent the company professionally with clients, property managers, and the public
· Communicate respectfully and clearly with clients on site
· Escalate client concerns to the General Manager rather than resolving them independently
What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate is someone who:
· Shows up on time, every day, without exception
· Takes ownership of results rather than making excuses
· Holds a crew accountable without creating conflict
· Is mechanically inclined and comfortable troubleshooting in the field
· Works efficiently without sacrificing quality
· Communicates clearly and proactively with leadership
· Stays calm and solves problems when a job doesn’t go as planned
· Takes pride in work that reflects well on the company
Prior experience leading crews in construction, landscaping, electrical, roofing, lighting, or related trades is strongly preferred. Experience with holiday lighting installation is a plus but not required—we will train the right person. Character, reliability, and work ethic matter more to us than a specific résumé.
Our Leadership Philosophy
We believe people perform their best when they’re given clear expectations, the right tools, and the responsibility to succeed. We don’t believe in micromanaging, but we do believe in accountability. We trust our Crew Leaders to run their jobs, take ownership of their crews, communicate openly, and consistently deliver quality results.
Who Thrives Here
You’ll likely enjoy this role if you:
· Like being trusted to run your own job site
· Take pride in finishing work you’d be willing to put your name on
· Enjoy teaching and developing less experienced team members
· Prefer being outside and staying active over sitting still
· Value professionalism, teamwork, and accountability
· Want to work for a company with high standards and an outstanding reputation
Schedule
This is a seasonal position running from approximately September through January, covering holiday lighting installation and seasonal takedowns.
Our peak installation period runs from late September through late December. During this time, long hours, early starts, and six-day weeks are common, and flexibility is essential.
Crew Leaders are required to work the Thanksgiving holiday and the day after Thanksgiving. These are among our most critical installation days of the entire season. Please do not apply if you are unable to work these days.
Work is performed outdoors year-round in all conditions, including rain, wind, and cold weather. Installations proceed in adverse weather except when conditions are unsafe.
Compensation
· Competitive hourly pay based on experience, technical skill, and leadership ability
· Substantial hours available throughout the peak season
· Performance-based bonus opportunities tied to job quality and on-time completion
· Holiday premium pay for Thanksgiving and the day after Thanksgiving
· Priority consideration for returning seasonal work and permanent openings
Employment Requirements
Applicants must:
· Be able to lift up to 75 pounds repeatedly throughout the day
· Climb ladders and work at heights, including extension ladders and aerial lifts
· Work outdoors in adverse conditions, including rain, wind, and cold temperatures
· Work the Thanksgiving holiday and the day after Thanksgiving
· Possess a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
· Pass a pre-employment drug screening
· Pass a criminal background check
· Be legally authorized to work in the United States
We conduct pre-employment drug screening and criminal background checks on all candidates, and we maintain a drug-free workplace. These requirements are not negotiable and apply to every position at the company.
Our Commitment to You
For more than 20 years, The Lighting Company has built its reputation by delivering exceptional work and standing behind everything we do. That reputation is the result of talented people who care about quality, take ownership of their responsibilities, and are committed to doing things the right way.
If you bring professionalism, accountability, initiative, and a strong work ethic, we’ll provide clear expectations, the tools and support you need to succeed, opportunities to grow, and a workplace where your contributions are recognized and valued.
We believe in promoting from within whenever possible, and we’re committed to investing in people who consistently demonstrate leadership, reliability, and a commitment to excellence. Many of our seasonal team members return year after year, and our strongest performers are the first ones we call when permanent positions open.
If you’re looking for more than just a seasonal job—and want to work for a company that values professionalism, accountability, continuous improvement, and exceptional execution—we’d love to hear from you.
