Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical AR Staff Accountant to join our accounting team. You will be responsible for the end-to-end accounts receivable process, ensuring the accurate recording of revenue and maintenance of a healthy cash flow. This role requires a strong understanding of revenue recognition, excellent reconciliation skills, and the ability to resolve billing discrepancies proactively.
Key Responsibilities
- Invoice Generation: Prepare, review, and distribute accurate customer invoices and sales orders in accordance with contract terms.
- Cash Application: Post and apply daily customer payments (checks, ACH, credit cards, wire transfers) to the correct general ledger accounts.
- Aging & Collections: Monitor AR aging reports, identify past-due accounts, and initiate collection efforts to minimize overdue balances.
- Reconciliation: Perform monthly reconciliations for Accounts Receivable, deferred revenue, rebates and related general ledger accounts to ensure sub-ledger accuracy.
- Month-End Close: Prepare journal entries, accruals, and variance analysis related to AR during the monthly and yearly close processes.
- Dispute Resolution: Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies, short payments, and allocation issues with internal and external stakeholders.
- Audit Support: Support the Controller/CFO with gathering, reviewing and submitting required information to auditors
- Reporting & Compliance: Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly AR reports for management and maintain adherence to internal financial controls and company policies.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience: 0–5 years of progressive experience in accounting, specifically focusing on accounts receivable and collections.
- Software Skills: Proficiency with ERP and accounting systems and intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables).
- Knowledge: Solid understanding of revenue recognition and cash applications as it pertains to US GAAP
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical, numerical, and communication skills, with the ability to maintain excellent customer relationships and work cross-functionally.
