Duties
- Provide daily care for animals including feeding, watering, administering medications, and monitoring health status
- Clean and sanitize kennels, cages, and common areas to uphold high standards of hygiene and animal safety
- Handle animals gently and confidently using proper restraint techniques to ensure safety for both pets and staff
- Assist with pet boarding, pet sitting, and outdoor exercise activities to promote physical activity and mental stimulation
- Support pet grooming routines such as bathing, brushing, and nail trimming to keep animals comfortable and well-maintained
- Observe animal behavior closely to identify signs of stress or illness and communicate findings to veterinary staff when necessary
- Assist with animal training exercises and behavioral assessments to improve pet socialization and obedience skills
- Maintain accurate records of animal care activities, treatments, and behavioral observations in compliance with facility protocols
Experience
- Previous veterinary experience or background as a veterinary technician is highly desirable
- Experience in pet sitting or pet boarding environments demonstrating responsibility for multiple animals at once
- Familiarity with dog training techniques and animal handling skills that promote safe interactions
- Hands-on kennel experience or work in animal care facilities emphasizing cleanliness and sanitation practices
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely during tasks such as moving supplies or assisting with outdoor work activities
- Strong customer service skills to communicate effectively with pet owners about their pets’ needs and behaviors
- Outdoor work experience that involves exposure to various weather conditions while caring for animals outside or in open spaces
