About the Role
American Garage Door Systems — a custom wood door manufacturer and authorized Clopay dealer and installer, now part of the growing Door Pro America platform — is looking for a General Manager to own and grow the business.
This is a full P&L leadership role. You will be accountable for the entire operation: revenue, margin, and profitability, as well as the sales, service, and installation teams that deliver for our customers. We're looking for a business leader who can set the strategy, drive top-line growth, protect margins, and build a strong team — while staying close enough to the field to lead credibly. If you want to run a business like it's your own, with the resources and support of a larger platform behind you, we'd like to talk.
What You'll OwnBusiness & P&L Performance
- Own the full branch P&L — revenue, gross margin, operating expenses, and EBITDA.
- Build and manage the annual budget; forecast, track, and report results to corporate leadership.
- Set pricing and quoting strategy to grow revenue while protecting margin.
- Identify and act on opportunities to improve profitability, efficiency, and cash flow.
Revenue & Commercial Growth
- Drive top-line growth across custom wood doors, Clopay residential and commercial products, service, and new-construction channels.
- Own key account and builder relationships; develop new business and expand market share.
- Strengthen the Clopay dealer relationship and leverage it as a competitive advantage.
- Lead the sales effort — pipeline, bids, and close rates.
Operations Leadership
- Oversee installation, service, and warehouse operations, working through team leads to ensure jobs run efficiently and profitably.
- Ensure quality, minimize return trips and warranty work, and resolve customer escalations quickly.
- Maintain inventory accuracy, scheduling efficiency, and technician utilization.
- Champion a safety-first culture across the branch.
Team Leadership & Development
- Recruit, develop, and hold accountable a high-performing team across sales, field, and support.
- Build a positive, high-accountability culture focused on results and continuous improvement.
- Partner with Door Pro America leadership to integrate systems, share best practices, and scale what works.
What We're Looking ForRequired
- 5+ years of general management or P&L ownership experience, with a track record of growing revenue and profitability.
- Background in garage doors, building products, construction, or a related skilled-trades / dealer-distributor business.
- Financial acumen — comfortable owning a budget, reading a P&L, and making decisions that move the numbers.
- Proven ability to lead both a commercial/sales effort and field operations.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Preferred
- Experience selling or manufacturing custom / premium building products.
