Position Summary
We are seeking a compassionate, skilled, and efficient Veterinarian to join our New High-Volume Spay/Neuter clinic in Marion, Ia. The successful candidate will provide high-quality surgical care while supporting our mission to reduce pet overpopulation and improve animal welfare through accessible sterilization services. This position is ideal for a veterinarian who enjoys surgery, teamwork, and making a meaningful impact in the community.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform high-quality, high-volume spay and neuter surgeries
- Conduct pre-operative physical examinations to assess surgical candidates.
- Administer and monitor anesthesia in collaboration with veterinary technicians.
- Diagnose and address minor medical conditions identified during examinations when appropriate.
- Provide pain management and ensure patient comfort throughout the surgical process.
- Monitor post-operative recovery and manage any surgical complications.
- Assist with accurate and complete medical records.
- Follow established protocols for infection control, patient safety, and controlled substances.
- Collaborate with veterinary technicians, assistants, and support staff to ensure efficient daily operations.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain a clean, organized surgical environment.
Qualifications
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or equivalent) from an accredited institution.
- Active veterinary license in good standing (or eligibility for licensure in the state of Iowa).
- DEA license (or ability to obtain) as required.
- Experience performing spay and neuter surgeries preferred; high-volume surgical experience is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of anesthesia, analgesia, and perioperative patient care.
- Excellent surgical skills with attention to detail and patient safety.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Commitment to animal welfare and compassionate veterinary care.
- Recruit, mentor and build the next generation of compassionate Animal Care providers.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in shelter medicine or community veterinary medicine but not required
- Fear Free or Low Stress Handling certification
- Experience and interest mentoring veterinary students or support staff
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods while performing surgery.
- Manual dexterity sufficient for precise surgical procedures.
- Ability to work in a clinical environment with exposure to animals, cleaning chemicals, and anesthetic gases.

Pay: $110,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
