Overview
Our award winning boutique resort, Hotel Hartness is expanding operations and currently looking for Chef to lead operations in our Patterson Kitchen where your passion for food and leadership will elevate our dining experience to new heights! In this vital role, you will collaborate closely with the front of house leaders to oversee kitchen operations, ensure exceptional food quality, and inspire a talented team of culinary professionals. Your expertise in modern upscale dining, food safety, and kitchen management will be instrumental in delivering memorable experiences for our guests. This position offers an exciting opportunity to showcase your culinary skills while managing a fast-paced, hospitality-driven environment.
This is upscale casual dining, contemporary cuisine in an open kitchen. Current service hours are all nights for dinner, except closed Sundays. We will be expanding to offer weekend brunch.
This position requires a hands on chef that will oversee and partake in the culinary operations during service periods.
Our resort has a campus like setup and requires the ability to work in both indoor/outdoor environments.
Position may oversee culinary operations in CoPilot(coffee shop) and Captain (bar).
Duties
- Assist in developing and executing innovative menu plans that align with the restaurant’s standards and guest expectations
- Supervise daily kitchen operations, ensuring smooth shift management and efficient food production
- Lead and motivate a team of cooks and kitchen staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment
- Oversee food preparation, ensuring all dishes meet quality standards and presentation requirements
- Manage inventory control, including ordering supplies, monitoring stock levels, and minimizing waste
- Ensure strict adherence to food safety and sanitation regulations across all kitchen activities
- Coordinate with the catering and banquet teams to support large events and special functions with exceptional service
- Monitor dietary department needs to accommodate special dietary requests and maintain menu flexibility
- May need to assist with events and banquets
- Work with FOH leaders and Banquet Chef on purchasing goods
Qualifications
- Proven experience in fine dining establishments with strong background in food production and restaurant management
- Demonstrated supervisory experience leading culinary teams in high-volume settings
- Extensive knowledge of food handling, safety protocols, and sanitation standards (HACCP certification preferred)
- Experience with banquet service, catering, and event planning is highly desirable
- Skilled in inventory management, cost control, and kitchen operations oversight
- Strong leadership abilities with excellent communication skills to manage shifts effectively
- Culinary training or certification from a recognized culinary institute is preferred
- Familiarity with food industry trends, menu planning, and hospitality standards
- Ability to thrive under pressure while maintaining attention to detail and quality standards

- Must be able to stand for shift
- Due to the setup of the property frequent stair climbing is needed
