DON (Director of Nursing) - Ardmore -Full-Time
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Director of Nursing (DON) to lead our Nursing Services department at Tulsa Center for Rehabilitation & Healthcare. As a DON, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the overall operations of the department, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care and services to our residents. Required Qualifications:
A Nursing Degree from an accredited college or university
At least three (3) years of experience as a supervisor in a hospital, nursing home, or other related healthcare facility
Current unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse (RN) in practicing state
Knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines pertaining to long-term care
Current CPR certification
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Plans, develops, organizes, implements, evaluates, and directs the overall operations of the Nursing Services department
Interprets and communicates policies and procedures to nursing staff and monitors staff practices and implementation
Participates in all admission decisions and evaluates work performance of all nursing personnel
Participates in daily or weekly management team meetings to discuss census changes, resident changes in status, complaints, or concerns
Evaluates and implements the infection control program in accordance with current guidelines to prevent the development and transmission of disease and infection
Participates in budget development for the nursing department and monitors expenses
Develops and implements policies and procedures related to nursing care and services
Coordinates care and services with other departments and agencies
Maintains confidentiality of resident records and information
Additional Tasks:
Treats all residents with dignity and respect and promotes their rights
Establishes a culture of compliance and adheres to all facility policies and procedures
Maintains a safe and clean environment for residents and staff
Participates in quality assurance and performance improvement activities
Reports noncompliance with policies, procedures, regulations, or breaches in confidentiality
Reports occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and/or hazardous chemicals
Personal Skills and Traits Desired:
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, and government agencies/personnel
Ability to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
Ability to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel
Working Conditions:
Works in an office and throughout the facility
Subject to frequent interruptions
May be subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, personnel, and visitors
Works beyond normal working hours and on weekends, holidays when necessary
On call 24 hours per day, 7 days a week
Compliance as a Condition of Employment and Performance Appraisal:
Agreement to abide by all standards, policies, and procedures of the facility, including the facility's compliance and ethics program, is a condition of employment
Compliance will be a factor in evaluating job performance
Violations, including failure to report violations, will result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination
