Overview
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. Responsibilities
- Prepare a variety of sushi and Japanese dishes with precision and creativity
- Ensure all food is prepared according to established recipes and presentation standards
- Maintain high standards of food safety, sanitation, and hygiene in all kitchen activities
- Manage ingredient inventory, ensuring freshness and proper storage
- Collaborate with the culinary team to develop new menu items and seasonal specials
- Assist in meal preparation for catering events or special functions as needed
- Handle food with care, utilizing proper knife skills and cooking techniques
- Adhere to all health regulations and safety procedures during food handling and preparation
- Maintain cleanliness of workstations and kitchen equipment at all times
Experience
- Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar role within fine dining or Japanese cuisine establishments
- Strong background in food preparation, cooking, and food handling techniques
- Experience with menu planning and creating visually appealing dishes
- Familiarity with food safety standards and best practices in the kitchen environment
- Prior work in the food service industry, including restaurant experience or catering, is highly desirable
- Skills in knife handling, meal preparation, and culinary arts are essential
- Experience working in dietary departments or as a dietary aide is considered an asset but not mandatory
