EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
This position supports the mission of the State Ethics Commission by conducting confidential investigations into potential violations of the Ethics Act. This position requires curiosity, creativity, professionalism, initiative, attention to detail, patience, and a strong interest in good and honest government. The work involves gathering facts, reviewing evidence, and ensuring that public officials uphold their responsibilities. As a Special Investigator, you will perform the following duties:

Evidence Review: Collect and evaluate evidence and prepare it for presentation to supervisors and attorneys

Investigative Work: Conduct investigations into suspected violations of the Ethics Act

Information Gathering: Seek out and contact complainants and witnesses to obtain information

Record Examination: Obtain and examine personal and public records including deeds, contracts, and financial documents

Interview Activity: Interview respondents and witnesses to gain statements and admissions

Report Preparation: Prepare reports that document investigative activity and findings
