DESCRIPTION:
This position serves as a mental health and wellness case manager for veterans and their families, focusing on providing compre-
hensive support and assistance in accessing various mental health services and resources. The case manager will help veterans
navigate the Department of Veterans Affairs offerings, including mental health counseling, wellness programs and community re-
sources. This position will emphasize collaboration with the Dwyer Program, the March On Program, and other local initiatives to
support military service members and their families in Albany County. This role also oversees patient-centered care while aiming to reduce avoidable challenges, such as homelessness and limited access to mental health support. This role may provide supportive
therapy and short-term treatment to Veterans. Does related work as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EITHER:
A. Graduation from an accredited college or university with at least a Master’s degree in Human Services or a closely related field
and two (2) years of mental health support experience providing direct services to veterans and/or their families; OR,
B. Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree and five (5) years of mental health support experi-
ence providing direct services to veterans and/or their families.

Candidates will not have to take an exam for this title. This is a Hiring Emergency Limited Placement (HELP) Program-designated title. The HELP Program is a
temporary program designed to help local government employers address current staffing issues. Traditionally, the titles filled under the HELP Program required job
candidates to compete in a competitive exam to be considered for employment. For the duration of the program, this title will be classified as non-competitive and catego-
rized as a “HELP Program” position. At the close of the program, this position will revert to competitive class status. Employees occupying positions filled through the
HELP Program will be granted competitive class status without the need to participate in a competitive exam.
