The Village Vet is seeking an experienced, compassionate New York State Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) to join our team as a Full-Time Surgical Technician.
We are a busy, well-established small animal practice in Webster, NY, known for providing exceptional patient care and outstanding client service. Our team is collaborative, supportive, and passionate about veterinary medicine, and we're looking for someone who shares those values.

Position Overview
This position is primarily focused on surgical nursing and anesthesia, with four surgery days each week. You will work alongside a talented team of licensed veterinary technicians and veterinarians to provide exceptional perioperative care.
Once daily surgical responsibilities are complete, you'll transition into supporting afternoon appointment flow until scheduled surgical discharges begin.

Primary Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for surgery and monitor anesthesia throughout procedures
- Assist veterinarians during surgical procedures
- Recover surgical patients and provide post-operative monitoring
- Perform dental prophylaxis procedures
- Administer medications and treatments via IV, IM, SQ, and oral routes
- Perform venipuncture and catheter placement
- Obtain patient vital signs and monitor hospitalized patients
- Take diagnostic radiographs
- Perform in-house laboratory testing, including hematology, urinalysis, cytology, microbiology, and serology
- Prepare laboratory samples for outside reference laboratories
- Review vaccination histories and prepare vaccines according to hospital protocols
- Educate clients regarding patient care, treatments, medications, and discharge instructions
- Maintain accurate medical records, pharmacy logs, and controlled substance documentation
- Operate and maintain hospital equipment, including IDEXX analyzers, dental equipment, radiology equipment, and autoclaves
- Maintain inventory and ensure treatment and surgical areas remain clean, organized, and fully stocked
- Assist with general hospital cleanliness and other duties as needed
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will:
- Be a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) in New York State
- Have at least two years of veterinary technician experience
- Be confident and experienced with anesthesia monitoring
- Demonstrate excellent patient care and nursing skills
- Communicate professionally and compassionately with clients and coworkers
- Thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Be organized, dependable, and able to prioritize multiple responsibilities
- Work effectively both independently and collaboratively
- Maintain a calm, positive, and professional demeanor under pressure
- Possess basic computer proficiency and accurate medical record documentation skills
- Be committed to continued professional growth through ongoing education
Physical Requirements
This role requires the ability to:
- Lift up to 50 pounds
- Stand and walk for extended periods
- Safely restrain animal patients, including fractious patients when appropriate
- Perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the workday
- Maintain a clean, professional appearance, including wearing scrubs during scheduled shifts
