Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated GOM Patient Advocate to provide comprehensive on-shore support for RMI patients. In this role, you will act as the primary liaison between RMI patients, medical facilities, and the RMI Global Coordination Centre (GCC). Your mission is to ensure seamless medical access, advocate for patient welfare, and manage all logistics—including transportation, accommodation, and after-care planning—to ensure a smooth recovery process.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Patient Welfare & Advocacy: Oversee the patient experience from admission through discharge, ensuring patients are comfortable, understand their treatment plans, and receive necessary support.
- Logistics Management: Coordinate patient accommodation, transportation to and from medical facility appointments, and oversee all after-care arrangements.
- GCC Coordination: Maintain constant communication with the RMI GCC to provide timely written and verbal status updates regarding patient progress.
- Facility Liaison: Establish strong working relationships with treating physicians and medical staff; act as a mediator to ensure payment methods are agreed upon and service access is swift.
- Daily Monitoring: Deploy to medical facilities daily during protracted in-patient stays to advocate for the patient and monitor care.
- Problem Solving: Respond to operational challenges in a pragmatic, professional manner to ensure timely resolution.
Requirements
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience as a medical healthcare professional.
- Advocacy: Experience providing patient advocacy in remote or international areas is highly preferred.
- Professionalism: Ability to maintain a calm, professional persona while liaising with client management and medical teams.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to resolve practical problems in complex, variable situations.
- Self-Management: Demonstrated self-discipline, proactivity, and the ability to manage your own workload effectively.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and general technology literacy.
- Certifications: Valid driver’s license for the area of operation (preferred).
- Physical Readiness: Must be physically prepared to work in medical facility environments with potential exposure to blood-borne pathogens.
