Catering + Production Assistant

We’re looking for someone who likes cookies, details, organized chaos, and the oddly satisfying feeling of seeing 150 perfectly packaged cookies lined up and ready to go.
The Cookie Bar is hiring a Catering + Production Assistant to help us keep up with our growing catering, corporate, wholesale, logo cookie, and custom-order business.
This is not primarily a front-counter job. You’ll spend most of your time behind the scenes actually making things happen including baking, decorating, printing cookies, packaging orders, prepping cookie cakes, and helping turn very large piles of cookies into very happy customers.
And yes, you’ll probably eat a cookie occasionally. Occupational hazard.
What You’ll Do
Depending on your experience and training, you’ll help with things like:
- Baking cookies and other bakery items
- Preparing and decorating sugar cookies
- Flooding cookies with royal icing
- Printing logos and custom designs directly onto cookies
- Helping prep and decorate cookie cakes
- Packaging, heat-sealing, labeling, counting, and staging catering orders
- Preparing wholesale and corporate orders
- Organizing production so everything is ready when it’s supposed to be
- Helping with basic bakery prep, stocking, and cleanup
- Occasionally jumping in to help our front-of-house team when needed
- Eventually learning more of our production process as you’re ready for it
If you're 18+, there may also be opportunities to train on additional bakery equipment and dough production.
You Might Be Our Person If...
You:
- Notice when something is crooked by approximately three millimeters
- Can follow instructions and eventually work without needing someone to give you the next instruction every five minutes
- Are reliable, because catering orders don't care that someone forgot they were scheduled
- Like working with your hands and making things look good
- Can move quickly without getting sloppy
- Don't mind repetitive production when we're working through a large order
- Are comfortable learning new equipment and processes
- Can keep a workspace clean and organized
- Have a good attitude and can roll with a busy bakery
Bakery experience is great, but we can teach the right person.
Experience with royal icing, flooding sugar cookies, cake decorating, cookie decorating, or other pastry work is a BIG plus.
The Details
- Part-time
- Starting around $12-13/hour + tips, depending on experience
- Hours may grow as our catering and production business continues to grow
- Daytime and weekday availability is especially helpful
- Some evenings/weekends may be available or needed
- 18+ preferred, especially for employees who want to train on all areas of bakery production
What It's Like Working Here
We work hard, but we're not interested in making cookies feel like a miserable corporate assembly line.
The bakery is colorful, busy, creative, sometimes slightly chaotic, and usually smells like brown butter.
You'll work on everything from hundreds of corporate logo cookies to completely ridiculous custom orders that someone dreamed up and we somehow agreed to make.
We care about doing things well, taking care of customers, helping each other, and being the kind of bakery people actually enjoy working in.
You don't need to already know how to do everything.
You do need to be dependable, willing to learn, able to take feedback, and willing to care about the details.
