The Teacher Assistant supports the classroom teacher in creating a nurturing, safe, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for 12 to 20 Head Start children. This role contributes to program quality by assisting in the planning and implementation of curriculum, engaging with families, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with Head Start Program Performance Standards.
JOB SUMMARY
- Assist the lead teacher in ensuring the curriculum includes clear goals for children's development and learning, as well as the experiences and materials needed to achieve these goals.
- Support the development of weekly lesson plans and ensure they are accessible to parents, volunteers, and visitors in the classroom.
- Help create individualized plans for each child, including setting goals based on identified needs and outlining activities to support child outcomes.
- Participate in a team-teaching model, sharing responsibility for planning and implementing classroom activities.
- Engage with parents and staff to support children's learning and development.
- Conduct home visits as required to support family engagement and child development.
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS
- Must have at least a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, be enrolled in a program leading to an associate or baccalaureate degree, or be enrolled in a CDA credential program to be completed within two years.
- Maintain certification in CPR and First Aid, if required.
- Valid drivers license required for home visits.
- Bilingual English/Spanish skills preferred.

Offered compensation: $19.38/hr - $21/hr
