MatchBuilt is an executive search firm partnering with a leading home builder with operations in Houston, TX, seeking a Division President to lead division strategy, operational execution, team development, and market growth in alignment with the organization’s long-term goals.
A strong background in residential construction leadership, division operations, land strategy, financial performance, and team development is required for this role, and only candidates with relevant homebuilding experience will be considered.
In this role, the ideal candidate will provide leadership across the division’s key functional areas, including construction, sales, land acquisition, land development, purchasing, estimating, finance, customer care, and operational management. This person will hire, train, manage, and motivate division leaders while helping ensure the business operates with consistency, accountability, profitability, and strong cross-functional communication.

- Provide executive leadership for the division, including strategic planning, financial performance, operational execution, customer satisfaction, associate development, and long-term market growth.
- Develop and execute annual business plans, budgets, community strategies, and performance objectives that align with company goals and market opportunities.
- Lead, recruit, develop, and hold accountable a high-performing division leadership team spanning key functions, including land, construction, purchasing, sales, finance, operations, and customer care.
- Ensure the division’s organizational structure, leadership depth, and talent pipeline support current operations, planned growth, and changing market conditions.
- Oversee revenue, profitability, margins, absorption pace, starts, closings, backlog, cycle time, quality, and customer satisfaction to ensure the division meets or exceeds business objectives.
- Review and approve pricing strategies, sales releases, community positioning, and product plans based on market demand, competitive conditions, buyer expectations, and financial targets.
- Partner with land acquisition, development, and corporate leadership to evaluate growth opportunities, community performance, lot pipeline, entitlement risk, and capital allocation.
- Review and approve construction starts, budgets, schedules, and material deviations while ensuring disciplined execution across field operations and support departments.
- Serve as a senior representative of the company with developers, municipalities, trade partners, industry organizations, and community stakeholders throughout the market.
- Maintain a strong culture of accountability, ethical leadership, communication, compliance, and continuous improvement across the division.
- Ensure contractual commitments, company policies, operating procedures, ethical standards, and applicable laws and regulations are consistently followed.
- Champion customer satisfaction, construction quality, team development, and operational consistency to strengthen the company’s reputation and long-term performance.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, construction management, engineering, real estate, finance, or a related field preferred.
- 5-10 years of senior leadership experience as a Division President, Vice President, General Manager, or comparable executive leader in the homebuilding industry.
- Proven experience leading a residential construction division or major homebuilding function with responsibility for financial results, team performance, operational execution, and strategic growth.
- Strong understanding of land acquisition, land development, entitlement, construction, purchasing, sales, finance, customer care, and overall division operations.
- Demonstrated ability to build, develop, and retain high-performing leadership teams while creating accountability across multiple departments.
- Strong financial acumen with the ability to evaluate budgets, margins, community performance, pricing, starts, closings, absorption pace, and profitability.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and presentation skills with the ability to influence internal teams, corporate leadership, trade partners, developers, and external stakeholders.
- Proven ability to lead through changing market conditions while maintaining operational discipline, customer focus, and team alignment.
