The Music Therapist (MT-BC) provides therapeutic music interventions to hospice patients, supporting emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being. This role collaborates closely with the interdisciplinary care team to enhance quality of life through individualized music therapy programs.

Develop and implement individualized music therapy treatment plans for hospice patients

Provide bedside music therapy interventions to support comfort, relaxation, and emotional expression

Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to integrate music therapy into overall patient care plans

Coordinate therapy services alongside nursing, social work, and other clinicians

Maintain and manage music therapy equipment, instruments, and materials

Conduct patient assessments to evaluate therapeutic needs and measure outcomes

Facilitate group or individual sessions when appropriate

Provide education and in-service training to staff on the benefits of music therapy

Maintain accurate, timely documentation, reports, and patient records

Demonstrate flexibility and reliability to meet patient and organizational needs

Board Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC) (or eligible per state requirements)

Current state licensure if required by Ohio law

Knowledge of music theory, music therapy techniques, and clinical applications

Ability to assess, implement, and evaluate therapeutic music programs

Proficiency in reading music and playing at least one musical instrument

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary healthcare team

Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and proof of insurance

Experience in hospice, palliative care, or healthcare settings

Familiarity with end-of-life care and grief support practices
