Job Description: Technician – Avionics II – A
Location: Kent, WA
Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 5:00 AM–3:30 PM (4x10s)
Overtime: Occasional overtime to support launch schedules
Job Summary
This is a Contract-to-Hire opportunity through 2/26/2027, with potential to convert to a permanent position. The Technician – Avionics II – A provides hands-on support to Engineering and Manufacturing by assembling, testing, troubleshooting, modifying, repairing, and inspecting avionics and electro-mechanical systems. Work may be performed in laboratories, manufacturing areas, and on vehicles.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and assemble avionics components and systems for development, test, and flight.
- Fabricate, terminate, repair, and test wire harnesses.
- Perform soldering, electrical testing, troubleshooting, and fault isolation.
- Apply torque and perform inspections to applicable standards.
- Work in ESD-controlled environments and maintain tool accountability.
- Apply/remove staking, potting, encapsulation, and conformal coating.
- Support Engineering with new designs and manufacturing improvements.
- Document work, repairs, and nonconformances accurately.
- Maintain a strong focus on safety, quality, and teamwork.
Minimum Qualifications
- 3+ years of aerospace avionics or related experience.
- Experience with electronics assembly tools, soldering, multimeters, and power supplies.
- Wire harness fabrication and repair experience.
- Experience with torque application and inspection/certification.
- Familiarity with ESD and tool-control procedures.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. and work a 4x10 schedule.
- Strong attention to detail and communication skills.
- Must meet applicable U.S. citizenship/residency/work authorization requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5–7 years of launch vehicle or propulsion assembly experience.
- CCA/PCBA repair or component replacement experience.
- Experience with high-voltage/power, battery, or RF systems.
- Knowledge of IPC, J-STD, and IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards.
- Experience with electronic work orders and configuration management.
- Experience with staking, potting, encapsulation, and conformal coating.
