American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Step Down unit position requiring 2+ years of high-acuity stepdown or ICU experience and vasopressor titration skills.

Step Down Unit within an acute care hospital
-
Patient ratio of 1:4
-
Day shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
-
Required to work every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday for day shift)
-
No on-call responsibilities
-
Float to lower acuity floors within scope to meet facility needs
-
Uses EPIC charting system
-
Active RN license (MO or Compact) required, with no issuance tied to another compact state
-
Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
-
Minimum 2 years of RN experience required, with bedside experience within the last 6 months
-
ICU or high-acuity stepdown experience required due to unit acuity
-
Trauma Level II experience required

Travel experience required within the last 6 months
-
Experience with titration of vasopressors, sedation medication, insulin drips, trach vents, art lines, external pacemakers, and chest tubes required

EPIC charting experience preferred

Must be clean-shaven or have facial hair that allows for proper respirator fit testing

Provide direct patient care to high-acuity stepdown patients including cardiac, neurological, and respiratory cases
-
Manage patients requiring titration of vasopressors, sedation, insulin drips, and other advanced interventions
-
Navy scrub color required

First-time travelers will not be considered for this position

Candidates must reside outside a 75-mile radius of the facility
-
Maximum of 7 days RTO per 13-week contract, with no RTO during the first week of orientation

Additional RTO beyond 7 days requires manager approval
-
Permanent employees of the health system must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
-
Standard travelers may work up to an 18-month period before requiring a 3-month break in service
