Position Overview
A Care Monitor oversees daily facility operations and helps ensure the safety of residents, staff, and visitors while maintaining a supportive and structured environment. The position combines active safety and security monitoring, resident support, facility access control, documentation, policy compliance, and professional emergency response.
Essential Duties
- Monitor participants, visitors, and facility activities to maintain a safe environment.
- Conduct routine security patrols, wellness checks, and facility inspections.
- Control facility access, verify visitors, and perform pat-down searches when required.
- Respond to emergencies, incidents, conflicts, and behavioral concerns in accordance with company procedures.
- Observe, document, and report safety concerns, incidents, and policy violations.
- Complete accurate shift reports, incident reports, and activity logs.
- Assist participants with general needs while maintaining professional boundaries.
- Support meal service, participant orientation, and daily facility operations.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, the Crisis Management Center (CMC), and other team members.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with all company policies and safety procedures.
What You Need to SucceedRequired Qualifications
✔ High school diploma or equivalent
✔ Strong communication and interpersonal skills
✔ Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in stressful situations.
✔ Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
✔ Ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods.
✔ Valid California driver's license preferred.
✔ Security, healthcare, shelter, behavioral health, or social services experience is a plus.
✔ De-escalation, first aid, or crisis intervention training is preferred but not required.
Work Environment & Expectations
+ Facility-Based – Work onsite at our homeless recuperative care facility.
+ Variable Shift Schedule – Must be available to work weekends, holidays, and varying shifts as needed.
+ Active Role – Expect to be on your feet for the majority of the shift.
+ Emergency-Ready – Be prepared for exposure to emergency situations, including medical and behavioral incidents.
+ Fast-Paced & Dynamic – Work in an environment that requires quick thinking and adaptability.
+ Occasional High-Stress Situations – Some days may involve crisis management and de-escalation.
+ 24/7 Operation – We provide round-the-clock care, so flexibility is key.
+ Team-Oriented – Collaboration with healthcare staff, case managers, and security personnel.
