We are seeking a Full Time, motivated, and detailed-oriented Billing/Credentialing Specialist to join our team in supporting the staff, clients and vendors.
Job Summary:
The Billing Specialist is responsible for managing the billing, receivables and other revenue cycle functions.
This role requires expertise in medical billing, particularly for mental health services, to ensure accurate and timely claims submission, payment processing, and account reconciliation. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, knowledgeable about insurance policies, and capable of managing sensitive patient information with confidentiality and care.

Key Responsibilities:
-Claims Processing: Submit, track, and follow up on insurance claims for mental health services, testing, medication management. Ensuring timely submission, accuracy in CPT/ICD coding and compliance with payer requirements.
- Payment Posting: Accurately post payments received from insurance companies, patients, and other third-party payers.
- Denial Management: Research, correct, and resubmit denied or underpaid claims. Work with insurance companies to resolve issues preventing timely reimbursement.
- Patient Billing: Generate patient invoices for co-pays, deductibles, and balances due. Respond to patient inquiries regarding their bills and assist in resolving any discrepancies.
- Insurance Verification: Verify patient insurance coverage and benefits before services are rendered. Obtain prior authorizations when necessary.
- Revenue Cycle Management: Ensure all billing, payments, and collections are handled efficiently to optimize cash flow.
- Reporting: Prepare and analyze billing reports, tracking key performance indicators such as days in A/R, collection rates, and claim rejection trends.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, including HIPAA, as well as payer policies.
- Collaboration: Work closely with clinical staff, administrative personnel, and insurance representatives to resolve any billing issues.
Required Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.
- Experience: At least 2 years of experience in medical billing, with a preference for experience in mental health billing.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with mental health billing codes (CPT, ICD-10), insurance policies, and payer guidelines. Experience with Medicaid, Medicare, and private insurance companies.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and billing software. Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) is required.
- Certifications: Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or similar credential is preferred.

Working Conditions:

Benefits:
- 5 days of paid time off year one, 10 days paid time off year two & three, 15 days paid time off year 4 and beyond, in addition to 9 paid federal holidays.
