Summary:
Seeking a skilled, safety‑focused CDL Class A driver to operate manual-transmission dump trailers and roll‑off container trucks. Driver will haul scrap metal/construction/demolition materials, load/unload containers, perform basic vehicle inspections and maintain paperwork in compliance with DOT regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely operate Class A vehicles with manual transmissions, including dump trailers and roll‑off container trucks.
- Load, transport and unload bulk metal materials, construction debris, and roll‑off containers at job sites, landfills and customer locations.
- Operate roll‑off hoist systems to pick up, set down and secure containers; operate dump trailer hydraulics to empty loads.
- Perform pre-trip, en-route and post-trip vehicle/ equipment inspections; report defects and coordinate minor maintenance.
- Secure loads and ensure compliance with state and federal weight and safety regulations.
- Complete and maintain accurate logs, bills of lading, delivery receipts and inspection reports (electronic or paper as required).
- Communicate professionally with dispatch, site supervisors and customers; follow assigned routes and schedules.
- Maintain cleanliness and basic upkeep of vehicle and equipment.
Qualifications:
- Valid CDL Class A license.
- Proven experience operating manual-transmission Class A trucks; strong clutch/gear-shifting skills.
- Experience operating roll‑off container trucks and dump trailer hydraulics preferred.
- Clean driving record with safe driving history; ability to pass background check.
- Current DOT medical card (or ability to obtain) and comply with drug/alcohol testing requirements.
- Ability to read maps, use GPS, and complete required paperwork.
- Good physical condition; ability to lift, bend, climb in/out of trucks and work in variable weather.
Preferred:
- Endorsements: air brakes if applicable.
- Experience with construction, demolition, or waste hauling.
- Forklift or heavy-equipment experience a plus.
Working Conditions:
- Frequent loading/unloading at construction sites and transfer stations.
- Irregular hours may include early mornings and occasional overtime.
