Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Medication Technician / Caregiver to provide high-quality care to residents in assisted living, nursing homes, and home care settings. The ideal candidate will have experience working with individuals with disabilities, dementia, Alzheimer's, and other memory care needs. This role involves administering medications, assisting with daily activities, and supporting patients’ overall well-being while maintaining strict adherence to healthcare regulations and privacy standards such as HIPAA. Candidates with a background in medical documentation, EMR/EHR systems, and patient care are highly preferred. Responsibilities
- Administer prescribed medications accurately following physician orders and facility protocols
- Monitor and record vital signs, medication effects, and patient responses
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, mobility, and feeding
- Support patients with specialized needs such as tube feeding, catheter care, and other medical procedures
- Maintain detailed and accurate medical records using EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Cerner
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality
- Observe and report any changes in residents’ health status or behavior to nursing staff or supervisors
- Assist with documentation of medical history, medication administration records (MAR), and other necessary paperwork
- Support residents in memory care units, hospice care, or acute care environments as needed
- Follow infection control protocols and maintain a clean, safe environment for residents
Skills
- Prior experience in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or home care is highly desirable
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and nursing practices
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or cognitive impairments such as dementia or Alzheimer’s disease
- Proficiency in using EMR/EHR systems including Epic or Cerner for documentation purposes
- Strong caregiving skills with a compassionate approach to patient-centered care
- Ability to accurately administer medications and perform tasks such as tube feeding or catheter care
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and maintaining confidentiality of medical records
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with healthcare teams and family members
- Ability to work independently while following established protocols in fast-paced environments
