Job Summary
Greater Matthews Habitat for Humanity is hiring a full-time ReStore Truck Driver. This role is responsible for driving the ReStore truck to pick up donated furniture and other goods, and for supporting day-to-day ReStore operations — including donation processing, customer service, and stocking the retail floor.
This is a physically active job: you'll need to be able to lift and move furniture and other heavy items throughout the day, sometimes without assistance. A background check and a clean driving record are required. No CDL is required.
Position Details
- Pay: $16–$18 per hour, based on experience
- Schedule: Four-day workweek — Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM. Final schedule is set and adjusted on an ongoing basis by the ReStore Manager.

Essential Job Functions
Truck & Pickup Operations
- Operate the ReStore small box truck (no CDL required) to retrieve donations from donor locations
- Facilitate scheduling and mapping of pick-ups and deliveries
- Evaluate and receive onsite donations, including at the back dock
- Retrieve, load, unload, and price donated items in line with ReStore donation policies and quality standards
- Complete required safety inspections before operating equipment each day, and report any issues to management immediately
Retail & Customer Service
- Cross-train and fill in as needed on the retail floor — assisting customers, working the register, answering phones, and scheduling pickups
- Operate the point-of-sale system for cash, credit card, and gift card transactions
- Answer ReStore phone calls during business hours, including inquiries and donation screening
- Collect customer data on receipts and other documents as required by the ReStore Manager
- Provide objective, respectful responses at all times, including when declining a donation
- Quickly resolve customer service issues as they arise, and escalate to management when needed
Qualifications & Skills
- High school diploma required
- Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation
- Knowledge of and adherence to all traffic laws and regulations
- Ability to lift and move large, heavy objects on a continual basis throughout the workday, using appropriate safety equipment
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and multitasking across a variety of tasks
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict-negotiation skills
- Organized, detail-oriented, and dependable
- Ability to prioritize effectively and manage time under shifting demands
- General knowledge of ReStore equipment operation and maintenance
- Self-motivated and enthusiastic about working with customers, volunteers, and donors
- Able to clearly and passionately articulate the mission of Greater Matthews Habitat for Humanity
- Schedule flexibility

This role regularly requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and reaching — often in awkward or tiring positions — as well as using hands to handle tools and controls, and talking and hearing to communicate with customers and team members. Employees must be able to lift up to 75 pounds using proper safety equipment. The role may also require climbing ladders and operating ReStore equipment, particularly during outreach events.
Work Environment
Duties are performed both indoors and outdoors. Off-site public relations events may involve confined spaces with public access. Noise levels in the work environment are typically moderate to loud.
