Job Summary
The Safety Specialist will be responsible for assisting in developing, implementing, and overseeing safety policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Develop and implement safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
- Coordinate safety training programs for employees to promote awareness and adherence to safety protocols, including quarterly safety meetings
- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions
- New Hire Safety Orientation Program; oversee its development, implementation, and continuous improvement to ensure that all new employees receive comprehensive safety training and orientation
- Conduct annual driver ride along
- Review driver logs
- Update and maintain emergency response plans, conduct periodic safety drills.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and develop strategies for prevention
- Administers compliance with environmental regulations for the facility. This includes permits, reports, and hazmat training
- Prepare detailed reports on safety performance, including incident rates, trends, and recommendations for improvement
- Assist the HR Manager in interviewing and hiring of drivers
- Stay current on industry best practices and regulatory requirements related to workplace safety
Skills/Requirements:
- Class A or Class B CDL Required
- Knowledge of OSHA standards, EPA regulations (state and federal), and DOT Hazmat regulations is preferred
- At least one year of related experience and execution of similar duties in transportation
- Skilled and familiar with industrial health, hygiene, safety practices, and environmental practices.
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal safety regulations and standards
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with cross-functional teams
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Attention to detail to ensure accuracy in safety inspections and audits

Pay: $65,000.00 - $68,000.00 per year
