Full Job Description

UPMC Muncy is hiring a full-time, day shift Unit Clerk! The Unit Clerk provides clerical and administrative support to a patient care unit under the direction of the Nurse Clinical Manager or designee, following established procedures.

This position includes an on-call rotation every third weekend and does not require holiday coverage.

Responsibilities:

Provide clerical coverage to other nursing units as directed by Manager of Clinical Support Services.
Answer the telephone, deliver messages, sort unopened mail and place in designated boxes.
Maintain database for admission and discharge information.
Request and log (with verification by RN) patient's appointments, evaluations, consultations and escorts.
Maintain unit supplies and equipment.
Obtain various patient reports as requested from computer (e.g., dietary list, laboratory orders, etc.)
Manage patients' written medical record/chart as per policy and procedure.
Complete photocopying and faxing as requested.

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Computer experience preferred.
The incumbent must be physically capable of running toward or away from areas where problems are occurring and pushing, pulling, lifting equipment such as wheelchairs, carts, boxes, etc.
