Job Description:
First Christian Church of Hannibal, Missouri, is an established church in our community. We are a church governed and proudly connected to the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). We are seeking a leader for our youth programs who is enthusiastic, accepting, self-motivated, outgoing, possesses strong faith, organized, strong Bible teacher, loves God’s people.
First Christian Church, with a participating membership of 200, is experiencing growth to expand God’s church in this community. Our youth director will work with the Senior Pastor to utilize Church Growth possibilities through youth families. We are dedicated to leading and demonstrating discipleship in as many forms as we effectively can in our maximum ministry area.
This position will require the Youth Director to be responsible for all youth group levels and includes the following areas of responsibility.
· Plan (along with lay leaders) all youth events, money making projects, mission trips, summer youth camps, Youth Sunday, and setting goals and objectives for our Youth Ministry Programs.
· Collaborate with the Senior Minister and Youth Council to enhance the involvement of our youth and their families.
· Plan and manage the budget, in collaboration with the budget director, for effective Youth Ministry according to board guidelines.
· Recruit and train lay leaders to help within each youth level, including scheduling volunteers to provide a light supper on Sunday nights for CYF youth and volunteers.
· Lead CYF youth program on Sunday evening for middle school and high-school youth.
· Lead a weekly Morning Chapel for WEeCare.
· Direct Children’s Worship for Sunday mornings.
· Develop opportunities for youth ages Pre-K – 5th grades (Junior Disciples program)
· Participate and share in the development of special worship services throughout the year in regard to youth involvement.
· Organize and direct the annual Vacation Bible School program.
· Attend staff meetings and be active as a pastoral team member to the youth.
· Attend First Christian Church Budget and Board Meetings, both held on the second Wednesday of the month at 6:00 PM.
Pay: From $20.00 per hour
