PURPOSE OF POSITION: Receives general supervision. Maintains Primarius inventory control database for department. Responsible for maintaining and developing efficient logistics throughout Broome Bounty programming. Sees to all BCCC facility and vehicle needs. Supervises and trains CHOW® Works participants on a daily basis with Operations Coordinator. Maintain a thorough knowledge of existing community services and all services provided by the Council. Develop a working understanding of all CHOW/Broome Bounty positions and enhance cross-training across departments.
LOGISTICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide day-to-day management of CHOW® Warehouse.
- Oversee preparation and delivery of all food orders.
- Support the ongoing activity to increase inventory accuracy in the warehouse by assuring accurate recording of Broome Bounty and other food received in and distributed from the warehouse.
- Orchestrate weekly spot checks and quarterly inventory procedures.
- Manage Primarius inventory control database.
- Produce inventory and distribution reports monthly and as necessary.
- Analyze current practices/procedures and make recommendations/decisions for change.
- May oversee preparation of pantry/Broome Bounty orders with respective CHOW personnel.
- May be required to drive council vehicle.
- Assist in the supervision and training of volunteer and mandated warehouse staff.
- Consult with manager and/or program director for any observed incidents that may require disciplinary action.
- Abide by and assist in the enforcing of all warehouse policies and health department rules and regulations.
- Assist with the oversight and facilitation of grounds and facility maintenance.
- Assist with the performance of basic routine safety inspections of all BCCC vehicles and inform the Business Manager of any work needed for proper functioning of the vehicle.
- Schedule pick-ups and drop-offs of various food items to agencies, congregations, and businesses throughout Broome and neighboring counties
- Oversee all Feeding America and Broome County Health Department audits.
- Take the lead on training volunteers and explaining the process of sorting and packing.
- Other duties as assigned.
FACILITY & VEHICLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee and carry out the day-to-day facility operations, security requirements and maintenance needs of the Broome County Council of Churches’ buildings and grounds.
- Responsible for maintaining the safety and proper functioning of our fleet of vehicles. This includes, but not limited to, ensuring that all registrations, inspections, etc. are up to date
- Establish and oversee security systems associated with the facility, key and lock security, fire alarm, electrical system, heating/cooling, security cameras, etc., and advise the Executive Director in maintaining full compliance with safety, fire, environmental, and OSHA-related regulations and requirements.
- Utilize available volunteers and staff to assist with facility operations and advise the Executive Director as to the need for outside support in correcting problems and ensuring excellence in the maintenance, cleaning, and safety operations of the facility.
FOOD SOURCING RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Act as contact to all food donors, remedy all food donation issues with the help of the Director.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Requires the ability to read, write, and understand job instructions; match numbers; maintain inventory records; and use a variety of software packages, including spreadsheets and databases. Needs to have a high school diploma or GED. A valid, clean NYS driver’s license is required. Experience in material handling and/or material planning is highly desired, as is supervisory experience. Needs to have good communication skills, including the ability to persuade others to secure cooperation and/or resolve problems. Needs to be able to work in a team environment and demonstrate flexibility, adaptability, and dependability. Needs to be able to cope with stressors and demands associated with the job and/or the work environment so that acceptable, defined levels of performance are maintained. Forklift experience is required. Ability to lift 50 pounds is desired.
WORK SETTING:
Works in a warehouse setting. Is required to sit or stand for extended periods. When required, needs to be able to spend significant amounts of time in front of a computer terminal keyboarding data.
