Health Coordinator (CNA)Position Summary
The Health Coordinator plays an essential role in promoting the health, safety, and well-being of students and staff. Reporting directly to the Assistant Head of School, this position provides daily health services, basic first aid, medication administration, health record management, and wellness support while fostering a safe and caring school environment.
The Health Coordinator partners closely with families, faculty, and staff to support student health needs, ensure compliance with school health policies, and contribute to the overall success of the school community. This role requires professionalism, sound judgment, compassion, and the ability to respond calmly and effectively in a variety of situations.
Scope of Role
The Health Coordinator is responsible for the daily operation of the school health office, providing basic first aid, student health assessments, medication administration, health documentation, and compliance with applicable health regulations. This role collaborates with school leadership, faculty, and families to support student wellness and maintain a healthy school environment.
Essential Functions
The following functions are essential to this role:
- Provide first aid and routine health care for students and staff.
- Administer medications in accordance with school policy and physician authorization.
- Maintain accurate student health records and medical documentation.
- Monitor communicable illnesses and implement school health protocols.
- Communicate professionally with families regarding student health concerns.
- Maintain health office supplies, equipment, and medications.
- Support school safety, emergency preparedness, and health education initiatives.
- Collaborate with faculty and administration to support student well-being.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of the school's mission and operational needs.
Duties & ResponsibilitiesStudent Health Services
- Assess and provide first aid for student injuries and illnesses.
- Determine when students should return to class, remain in the health office, or be sent home.
- Respond to student health concerns with professionalism, discretion, and compassion.
Medication Administration & Clinical Care
- Administer prescription and over-the-counter medications according to physician orders and school policy.
- Maintain accurate medication administration records.
- Secure and properly store all medications.
- Monitor medication expiration dates and notify families as appropriate.
- Assist with specialized health procedures within the scope of certification and school policy.
Health Records & Compliance
- Maintain confidential student health records.
- Review immunization records and ensure compliance with state requirements.
- Track medical forms, physician documentation, allergy action plans, and emergency care plans.
- Maintain health office documentation and required reports.
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local health regulations.
Family Communication
- Communicate professionally with families regarding student illness, injuries, medications, and health concerns.
- Notify parents when students require pickup due to illness or injury.
- Support families in understanding school health policies and procedures.
Health Office Management
- Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked health office.
- Monitor inventory of medical supplies and communicate ordering needs proactively.
- Maintain emergency medical equipment and first aid supplies.
- Assist with emergency preparedness planning and drills.
School Community Support
- Collaborate with faculty and administration to promote student health and wellness.
- Support school-wide safety initiatives and emergency response procedures.
- Provide student supervision or operational support during non-clinical periods as assigned.
- Assist with school events when medical coverage is needed.

- Support the broader Starwood Academy community and perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Head of School.
QualificationsRequired
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification.
- Minimum of two years of healthcare, pediatric, or school health experience preferred.
- Knowledge of medication administration, infection control, and emergency response procedures.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to successfully complete required background and reference checks.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
Preferred
- Experience in a school, pediatric, or family practice setting.
- Experience working with children from Toddler through Middle School.
- Familiarity with student health record management systems.
Work Schedule
This is a full-time, on-campus, 12-month position. Regular work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Occasional evening, weekend, or extended hours may be required to support school events, health screenings, emergency preparedness activities, and community engagement initiatives.

- Ability to work in a fast-paced school health office and classroom environment.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and movement throughout campus.
- Ability to lift and assist students weighing up to 50 pounds when necessary.
- Ability to respond quickly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Ability to maintain visual and auditory awareness while monitoring student health and safety.
- Ability to safely operate medical equipment and maintain a clean, organized health office.
