Latitude Legal is seeking an experienced California-licensed Trust & Estate Litigation Attorney to join a boutique San Diego litigation practice on a part-time engagement basis (approximately 15 hours/week). This is a fully remote role.
The firm handles complex, emotionally nuanced disputes involving estates, fiduciaries, beneficiaries, and closely held family assets. They're looking for an experienced trust & estate litigator who can step in and contribute immediately. Someone with a firm grasp of the substantive law, the procedural rhythms of probate and civil litigation, and the interpersonal dynamics these matters often require.
What You'll Do Includes:
-
Litigate trust and estate disputes, including will and trust contests, breach of fiduciary duty claims, accounting disputes, creditor claims, trustee/beneficiary conflicts, and related probate and civil matters.
-
Draft and argue motions, pleadings, and briefs; manage written discovery; and support depositions, mediations, and trial preparation.
-
Develop case strategy and craft practical, client-centered solutions that account for legal rights, family dynamics, and fiduciary obligations.
-
Communicate professionally and thoughtfully with beneficiaries, trustees, fiduciaries, and family members involved in sensitive, high-stakes matters.
-
Collaborate closely with partners on complex disputes, taking direction where appropriate while also running with assignments independently.
-
Organize and manage a busy docket; tracking deadlines, coordinating filings, and ensuring matters move forward efficiently.
-
Maintain strong responsiveness and communication while working fully remote
Who You Are:
-
California-licensed attorney with 4+ years of trust & estate or probate litigation experience.
-
Strong legal research, writing, and motion practice skills; comfortable taking direction and implementing partner feedback while also running with assignments independently.
-
Established in trust & estate litigation experience; this role is best suited for an attorney who is looking to apply their experience, not build it from scratch.
-
Organized, proactive, and able to manage multiple matters while communicating effectively within a small team.
-
Comfortable working directly with clients in sensitive family- and wealth-related matters, and collaborating closely with partners on complex disputes.
-
Reasonably available during West Coast business hours and comfortable in a fully remote environment.
-
Licensed to practice law in California and in good standing.
-
Outstanding references.
