Position Summary
The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) will provide skilled physical therapy services under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist. The PTA will assist in implementing individualized treatment plans designed to improve mobility, strength, balance, endurance, pain management, and overall functional independence.
Responsibilities
- Provide physical therapy treatments as outlined in the established plan of care under the supervision of the Physical Therapist
- Assist residents in improving strength, balance, coordination, mobility, endurance, and functional abilities
- Monitor patient progress and communicate changes to the supervising Physical Therapist
- Accurately document treatment sessions, patient responses, and progress toward goals
- Educate residents, families, and caregivers regarding exercises, mobility techniques, safety, and home exercise programs as appropriate
- Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, occupational therapists, speech therapists, and other interdisciplinary team members
- Maintain compliance with facility policies and all state and federal regulations
- Participate in care conferences and interdisciplinary meetings as needed
- Promote a safe, positive, and compassionate rehabilitation environment
Qualifications
- Active and valid Texas Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) license in good standing
- Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
- Skilled nursing facility (SNF) or long-term care experience preferred
- New graduates are encouraged to apply
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary rehabilitation team
