Floating / Second Store Manager
Location: Flexible within driving distance of 2–3 stores
Company: Well Bred – The Healthy Pet Marketplace & Gentle Grooming Salon
About Us
Well Bred is more than a pet store—we’re a community for pet lovers who want the best for their dogs and cats. With seven locations across NJ, we specialize in healthy nutrition, premium products, and gentle grooming.
Our mission: to make pets healthy and happy every single day.
About the Role
We’re looking for a strong retail leader and contributor who thrives in a fast-paced, customer-first environment.
As a Floating / Second Manager, you will support multiple stores, drive results, and help develop high-performing teams. This is a hands-on leadership role where no two days are the same—and where accountability, sales ability, and initiative are essential.
You also may be considered for a store manager position if you have right experience and skills.
Important: Read Carefully Before Applying
This is not a passive retail position.
- This is a sales-driven, consultative environment. We are not a supermarket, and the products we sell are not advertised—customers rely on you to educate them and guide their purchasing decisions.
- Strong selling ability is essential. If you are not comfortable recommending, closing, and driving sales, this is not the right role.
- We are looking for individuals who take full responsibility for results—not those who wait to be told what to do.
What You’ll Do
Drive Sales:
Use consultative selling skills to recommend products, educate customers, and close sales—consistently meeting store and personal goals.
Customer Experience:
Deliver exceptional service—every customer, every time. Treat visiting dogs with treats and make their humans smile.
Lead & Support:
Support operations across 2–3 stores, partnering closely with Store Managers to ensure performance and consistency.
Team Development:
Train, mentor, and hold team members accountable for product knowledge, selling techniques, and results.
Operations Management:
Oversee merchandising, inventory, ordering, receiving deliveries, and maintaining high store standards.
Grooming Oversight:
Help manage grooming schedules and team operations in Chester and Livingston locations.
Community Engagement:
Participate in local outreach, store events, and marketing initiatives.
Analytics & Reporting:
Use Excel and other tools to track performance, analyze results, and drive improvements.
Training & Professional Development
Every employee receives structured, in-depth training in canine and feline nutrition, including clinical nutrition management.
You will be expected to:
- Develop professional-level expertise in pet nutrition
- Confidently guide customers through complex dietary needs
- Continuously build knowledge and apply it in sales conversations
This is a core requirement of the job, not optional.
What We’re Looking For
- Retail Leadership: Minimum 3 years of retail management experience
- Sales Strength: Proven ability (or clear potential) in consultative selling and closing
- Accountability: Takes ownership of results and drives outcomes without being micromanaged
- Pet Passion: Love dogs (and ideally cats) and interest in their health and nutrition
- Tech Skills: Microsoft Office, POS systems, and basic computer proficiency
- Physical Ability: Stand up to 9 hours and lift 30 lb bags
- Mindset: High energy, urgency, initiative, and a “get-it-done” attitude
- Stability: Solid work history and looking for a long-term role
