Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Accountant to join our finance team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for managing a wide range of accounting functions, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across financial operations. Duties
- Prepare, review, and analyze journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes using financial software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or Workday, ensuring timely payments and collections
- Conduct balance sheet reconciliation and account analysis to identify discrepancies and resolve issues efficiently
- Support month-end and year-end closing activities, including financial statement preparation and audit support
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information while handling data entry tasks with precision using tools like Excel data analysis, Spreadsheets, and accounting systems such as PeopleSoft or Ceridian
- Assist with budgeting, credit analysis, and financial forecasting to support organizational planning efforts
- Ensure compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls and internal audit requirements during all accounting procedures
Experience
- Proven accounting experience with a strong understanding of accounting concepts such as debits & credits, double entry bookkeeping, and general ledger accounting
- Familiarity with financial software including ADP, Kronos, UltiPro, Paychex, Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel), and other accounting systems like Ceridian or Sage
- Experience working in public accounting or governmental/non-profit sectors is highly desirable
- Knowledge of technical accounting standards including GAAP and specific industry regulations
- Demonstrated ability to perform account reconciliation, account analysis, balance sheet reconciliation, and journal entries accurately
- Strong numeracy skills combined with excellent attention to detail for data entry and account analysis tasks
- Ability to handle confidential information discreetly while providing exceptional customer service within internal teams or external auditors
