Responsibilities
- Greet customers warmly and provide exceptional customer service to enhance their shopping experience
- Assist customers in selecting pet supplies, accessories, and food tailored to their needs
- Conduct product demos to showcase features and benefits of various pet products
- Maintain attractive merchandising displays and ensure shelves are stocked with fresh inventory
- Operate the POS (Point of Sale) system accurately for transactions, including cash handling and credit card processing
- Upsell complementary products to maximize sales opportunities while ensuring customer satisfaction
- Manage stock levels through regular stocking and inventory checks, ensuring availability of popular items
- Demonstrate phone etiquette when responding to inquiries or placing orders remotely
- Supervise or assist with team members as needed, fostering a collaborative environment
- Follow safety protocols and maintain cleanliness standards throughout the store
Skills
- Previous retail sales experience preferred, especially in grocery or pet stores
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage customers effectively
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse customer needs
- Experience with POS systems and basic math for cash handling and sales calculations
- Knowledge of merchandising techniques and stock management practices
- Ability to perform product demos confidently and educate customers on pet care products
- Excellent phone etiquette and customer service skills in fast-paced environments
- Supervising experience is advantageous for leadership opportunities within the team
- Familiarity with retail math, upselling strategies, and retail sales techniques
- Basic understanding of grocery store operations related to inventory and stocking
