Part-Time MIG Welder / Fabricator

About the Position
ErgoQuest designs and manufactures specialized ergonomic and zero gravity computer workstations.
We are looking for a skilled and dependable Part-Time MIG Welder / Fabricator to provide additional fabrication capacity for our growing production team.
This position is ideal for an experienced welder looking for flexible additional hours, someone who already works in the welding/fabrication industry, or an independent welder looking for consistent part-time work.
Our products are manufactured in relatively low volumes with a variety of components and configurations. Quality, accuracy, and consistency are more important to us than simply producing parts as quickly as possible.
Responsibilities
- MIG weld mild steel workstation frames and components
- Fabricate parts according to drawings, dimensions, fixtures, samples, and instructions
- Fit and assemble components prior to welding
- Measure and verify parts before and after welding
- Produce clean, accurate, structurally sound welds
- Maintain proper alignment and dimensions during fabrication
- Grind and clean welds when required
- Drill, cut, grind, deburr, and prepare metal components as needed
- Identify fabrication or fit-up problems before components move to the next stage of production
- Perform rework or modifications when necessary
- Maintain an organized welding and fabrication area
- Properly maintain welding equipment and tools
- Follow shop safety procedures
- Coordinate with the Production Lead and other members of the production team
What We're Looking For
- Previous MIG welding experience
- Experience welding mild steel
- Ability to produce consistent, clean welds
- Ability to accurately measure and fit components
- Comfortable using grinders, drills, saws, and other common fabrication tools
- Ability to follow drawings, dimensions, fixtures, and samples
- Good attention to detail
- Dependable and able to work independently
- Pride in producing high-quality work
- Ability to identify and solve basic fabrication problems
Formal welding certification is helpful but not required. Demonstrated welding ability and quality of work are more important to us than credentials.
A welding test will be included as part of the interview process.
Schedule
This is a part-time position with flexible scheduling.
We are open to working with the right candidate to establish a schedule that works for both the welder and our production needs.
This may be particularly attractive to someone who:
- Has another full-time or part-time job
- Runs or is starting their own welding/fabrication business
- Wants additional welding hours
- Prefers a flexible work schedule
- Is retired or semi-retired but wants to continue welding part-time
Hours may increase during periods of higher production demand.

Compensation
