JOB DESCRIPTION: The Assistant Director of Development works closely with the Senior Director of Development & Strategic Partnerships, the Development Manager, and cross-functional staff to strengthen and grow Voices Together’s philanthropic revenue through strategic donor engagement, fundraising, and stewardship. This position leads the development and implementation of Voices Together’s annual fundraising strategy with a primary focus on individual, corporate, and foundation giving, including donor identification, cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and retention.
The Associate Director of Development will play a key role in building and sustaining a strong culture of philanthropy, deepening donor relationships, strengthening donor communications and impact storytelling, and enhancing donor engagement across all giving levels. This role collaborates closely with the Development Manager and the Communications Manager to develop stewardship communications and donor-centered content that increases engagement, visibility, and long-term philanthropic investment. This position also supports strategic partnership development, including Medicaid-related partner engagement, as needed.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and execute annual fundraising strategies to grow revenue from individual, corporate, and foundation donors.
- Build and manage a robust donor pipeline by identifying, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding prospects and donors.
- Support annual fund strategy development and collaborate on cultivating and soliciting support for our annual programming.
- Develop and strengthen corporate sponsorship and partnership opportunities aligned with organizational priorities.
- Identify and pursue foundation funding opportunities, including relationship-building, proposal coordination, and stewardship.
- Support the development efforts to secure additional government funding
- Design and implement a comprehensive stewardship strategy to strengthen donor retention, increase engagement, and deepen philanthropic investment.
- Create meaningful donor touchpoints, including impact updates, personalized stewardship plans, donor recognition strategies, and engagement opportunities.
- Develop structured stewardship pathways for all donor types and giving levels.
- Ensure donors receive timely, relevant communication demonstrating impact and organizational progress.
- Partner with the Development Manager & the Communications Manager to create donor-centered communication strategies, including monthly impact newsletters, donor updates, social media content, and fundraising campaigns.
- Develop fundraising collateral, donor appeals, and stewardship materials that strengthen donor connection and improve fundraising outcomes.
- Help elevate Voices Together’s visibility and philanthropic messaging through strategic storytelling.
- Manage a portfolio of individual, corporate, and foundation donors and prospects, maintaining accurate records and engagement strategies in the CRM.
- Track donor movement, giving trends, and stewardship touchpoints to improve donor retention and growth.
- Support the cultivation and development of strategic community and Medicaid-related partnerships that advance organizational sustainability and programmatic growth.
- Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual fundraising and donor engagement reports, including stewardship effectiveness and donor retention metrics.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of five (5+) years of professional fundraising experience, preferably in nonprofit development.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Demonstrated success in securing and growing individual, corporate, and foundation gifts.
- Experience in donor stewardship, donor communications, and donor retention strategies.
- Strong relationship-building and moves-management experience.
- Experience developing donor-centered communications and fundraising campaigns.
- Familiarity with CRM systems and donor data management.
- Strong writing skills, particularly for donor communications, proposals, and stewardship reporting.
- Experience collaborating with marketing or communications teams to strengthen donor engagement preferred.
- Knowledge of healthcare, Medicaid, or community-based partnership development preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift up to fifteen (15) pounds at times
Pay: $75,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
