Position Overview
The Store General Manager is responsible for the overall operation, financial performance, and success of the store. This is a hands-on leadership position overseeing employees, sales, inventory, merchandising, customer service, safety, and facility operations.
Responsibilities
Business and Financial Management:
- Manage store sales, expenses, profitability, and operating budgets.
- Review sales, inventory, labor, and financial reports to identify opportunities and control costs.
- Manage inventory, purchasing, pricing, merchandising, and product assortment.
- Maintain strong vendor relationships and negotiate pricing when appropriate.
- Manage the POS system and ensure accurate cash handling.
- Develop promotions and other strategies to increase sales and profitability.
- Identify opportunities to reduce waste and improve margins.
Operations and Customer Service:
- Oversee daily store operations and ensure high standards of cleanliness, organization, and merchandising.
- Ensure products are stocked, displayed effectively, and available to customers.
- Provide excellent customer service and respond to customer concerns professionally.
- Develop local marketing initiatives, including social media and community outreach.
- Build strong relationships with customers and the local community.
- Participate in management meetings and provide operational and sales reporting.
Team Leadership:
- Recruit, hire, train, schedule, coach, and retain employees.
- Maintain appropriate staffing levels while managing labor costs.
- Establish clear expectations and promote accountability, teamwork, and a strong work ethic.
- Recognize strong performance and address performance issues appropriately.
- Lead by example and work alongside employees when business needs require.
Safety and Facility Management:
- Ensure compliance with food safety, health, OSHA, and company standards.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming store.
- Coordinate required inspections, permits, repairs, maintenance, landscaping, and vendors.
- Maintain equipment such as refrigeration, coolers, and freezers.
- Document and respond appropriately to customer and employee incidents.
- Implement appropriate security measures.
Skills and Qualifications
- Demonstrated management experience in a convenience store, grocery, or small-format retail.
- High school diploma or GED. Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Retail Management, or related field preferred.
- Experience hiring, training, coaching, and supervising employees.
- Strong business judgment, math, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with local marketing, social media, purchasing, and vendor management.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to manage inventory, staffing, expenses, and competing priorities.
- Proficiency with POS systems, Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and other basic business technology.
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, early mornings, or evenings as needed.
- Food Safety Certification, preferred.
- Valid driver's license.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
