Responsibilities
- Assist in food preparation and meal assembly according to established recipes and menu standards
- Operate various kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including knives, slicers, ovens, and mixers
- Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene by following proper handling procedures and cleaning protocols
- Support menu planning by preparing ingredients and ensuring consistency in food presentation
- Contribute to the cleanliness of the kitchen by cleaning workstations, utensils, and equipment regularly
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff to coordinate meal production and ensure timely service
- Follow safety standards during all aspects of food production to prevent accidents or contamination
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a dietary department or dietary aide role is highly desirable
- Knowledge of food handling, safety standards, and food industry best practices
- Experience with food preparation, cooking techniques, and operating kitchen equipment
- Strong knife skills with proficiency in slicing techniques
- Ability to follow recipes accurately and adhere to meal preparation guidelines
- Excellent communication skills for effective teamwork within the kitchen environment
- Prior restaurant or catering experience is a plus but not required; enthusiasm for culinary work is essential
