We are seeking a Cost/Project Controller to join our team. This role offers an exciting opportunity for growth in the project planning and commissioning field, working directly under the guidance of our Planning and Estimation Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Assessing the accuracy of all construction vs Commissioning schedules
- Develop and maintain the master schedule for Commissioning activities
- Prepare schedule reports for Project Team regarding project activities and produce consolidated progress reports and analysis
- Develop schedules in various formats such as Primavera, Excel and MS project
- Define, develop, and document multiple dependent or independent budgets; work breakdown and cost coding structures, approve changes to baseline/estimates and new forecasted dates/performance
- Evaluate current status of the project cost and schedule, provide most accurate total Project
- Forecast ensuring inclusion of all cost categories and schedule impacts due to changes as the project evolves to completion
- Identify deliverables, assign budgets, and check points to those deliverables, status progress against control points, calculate earned hours and progress
- Report and graph updates of actual man-hours and costs invoiced, incurred, physical progress, forecast to complete, key and/or critical issues and scheduled achievements relative to the status of the project
- Manage controls to ensure that client and corporate procedures are being adhered to; active in continuous improvement
- Develop controls to ensure all project deliverables comply with applicable cost codes and standards
- Analyze project progress to develop variance reports that quantify changes from the baseline schedule
- Able to perform critical path analysis to determine which deliverable have float and which cannot slip schedule
- Ability to work with client to create integrated EPC/CSU schedules
- Manage client expectations and coach others in effective negotiation
- Assist with the development of succession plans and participate in assessment and performance review process
- Coordinate with CSU project advisors about vendor communications and planning to work at site and align with project schedule and budget.
- Coordinate and visit project team at site to align the communication and implementation with the Head Office
- Develop and maintain detailed CSU/project schedules in Primavera P6 and integrate them with client and construction schedules.”
Qualifications
- Education: Diploma or degree in engineering, project management, or a related field.
- Experience: 3-5 years of experience in planning, scheduling, or project coordination (experience in commissioning is an asset).
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in project controls (cost and schedule) with at least 2+ years of hands‑on Primavera P6 experience
- Strong Excel skills
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in scheduling tools like Primavera P6, MS Project, or similar.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Familiarity with project management methodologies and tools is an advantage.
Soft Skills:
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented and capable of managing multiple tasks effectively.
