Coordinate utility relocations necessary on highway projects, ensuring all relocations and relocation adjustment plan designs are prepared and accomplished in accordance with state and federal procedures.
How you will contribute:
- Billing Processing: Verify accuracy of utility progress bills and final bills and analyze cost differences between bills and approved estimates. Submit billings for payment.
- Utility Coordination: Participate in field reviews, VDOT field inspections, pre-advertisement meetings and pre-construction conferences to provide technical assistance. Provide updated utility information, review highway plans and recommend design changes and resolve utility-related design problems in-house.
- Utility Cost Estimate: Prepare utility cost estimate studies for highway projects from preliminary design to approved plan using VDOT PCES software programs. Review all utility company plans and estimates for compliance with federal and state policies for acceptable engineering design, accounting procedures and construction methods.
Utility Field Inspection: Conduct utility field inspection meetings with utility companies for proposed highway projects. Interpret and review highway plans to determine utility conflicts. Determine cost responsibility and easement requirements. Review bridge attachment requests and wetland permit applications to VDOT.

Additional Considerations:
- A combination of training, experience or education in Highway Engineering, Construction, Right of Way or related field desired.
- Experience related to highway engineering, construction, or right of way.
- Experience using utiity and highway plans.
- Skill in the use of automated engineering software and systems, such as MicroStation and Falcon.
