About Us
Cat Care Society is a nonprofit, limited-admission cat shelter that has served the Lakewood community since 1981. We are known for our work with special-needs and medically complex cats. Our free-roaming environment supports a high quality of life for cats while allowing staff to work closely across departments in a team-oriented setting.
About the Role
Our Registered Veterinary Technicians are a vital part of our shelter medicine team. You’ll support surgeries, exams, treatments, and daily care for cats with a wide range of medical needs. This is a hands-on role for someone who is looking for meaningful, mission-driven work in a supportive environment.
What You’ll Do
- Assist with exams, diagnostics, and surgical procedures
- Monitor anesthesia and support pre and post-op care
- Administer medications, treatments, vaccines, and injections
- Provide nursing care to cats who are sick, injured, or recovering
- Keep accurate records and help manage controlled substances
- Maintain inventory of medical supplies
- Support humane euthanasia procedures when necessary
- Work closely with other departments to provide consistent, compassionate care
What We’re Looking For
- A current RVT license in Colorado, or an CVT/LVT license from another state with eligibility for Colorado certification
- At least one year of experience in shelter, emergency, or general practice preferred
- Proficiency with anesthesia, feline handling, and treatment protocols
- A dependable, team-focused mindset and a calm presence under pressure
- Must be available to work at least one weekend day each week
Schedule and Location
- Full-time positions typically follow a four 10-hour shift schedule
- All work is performed on-site at our Lakewood shelter
- No overnights required
