ROLE SUMMARY
We are looking for a senior, hands-on engineer to improve build systems, CI/CD pipelines, developer tooling, and release workflows in a complex engineering environment. This role requires deep troubleshooting across build graphs, Rust and frontend toolchains, Linux containers, CI workers, artifacts, and release pipelines. The ideal candidate is comfortable using LLMs and AI-assisted development tools to accelerate debugging, automation, documentation, and workflow improvements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Build systems: Maintain and improve build workflows, including dependency modeling, target ownership, impacted-target logic, vendoring, Git LFS, caching, and remote execution concepts.
CI/CD pipelines: Design, maintain, and troubleshoot CI/CD pipelines for builds, tests, packaging, and releases.
CI reliability: Improve CI reliability through log triage, retries, artifact handling, secure secret management, and better job orchestration.
Rust tooling: Support Rust toolchains, workspace-scale builds, linting/formatting, nightly tooling, and WASM-related targets.
Frontend tooling: Support frontend build workflows involving TypeScript, npm, testing, linting, formatting, and Rust-to-WASM integration where needed.
Environments: Maintain Docker-based development and CI environments, including filesystem, permissions, ports, and service dependencies.
Release engineering: Support release workflows including image publishing, version metadata, registry usage, and binary artifact packaging.
AI-assisted engineering: Use LLMs effectively to speed up root-cause analysis, automation, log review, and documentation.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in build systems, CI/CD, DevOps, platform engineering, developer productivity, or release engineering.
Master's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent exceptional hands-on experience with strong coverage of the nice-to-have qualifications below.
Linux, Docker, CI/CD, scripting, and troubleshooting skills.
Experience with build caching, dependency management, artifact handling, reproducibility, and secure credential management.
Working knowledge of Rust toolchains and modern frontend build tooling.
Practical experience using LLMs or AI coding assistants for engineering productivity, debugging, automation, or documentation.
Strong communication skills and ability to work across engineering, infrastructure, security, and release teams.
NICE-TO-HAVE QUALIFICATIONS
Experience with Buck2/BUCK, impacted-target logic, or large-scale build graph management.
Experience with Gerrit/Zuul-style CI, Ansible orchestration, or gated validation systems.
Familiarity with remote execution/cache systems such as BuildBarn.
Experience with Rust-to-WASM packaging, wasm-pack, or generated type synchronization.
Experience with Nexus or similar artifact/container registries.
Familiarity with CI service dependencies such as MongoDB, Redis, Qdrant, Neo4j, TerminusDB, or Jupyter.
Experience with reproducible releases, semver, image publishing, and environment drift reduction.
