Job Title: Fire Extinguisher Inspector / Fire Safety Technician
Location: Massachusetts (statewide travel required; preferred candidates near Boston)

Position Summary
We are seeking a reliable Fire Extinguisher Inspector to perform routine inspections, maintenance, testing, and minor repairs on portable fire extinguishers. The inspector will ensure all equipment meets Massachusetts and NFPA standards, maintain accurate service records, and provide clear communication to clients about condition and compliance needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual inspections of portable fire extinguishers at client sites per NFPA 10 and applicable state/local codes.
- Conduct maintenance tasks including recharging, hydrostatic test scheduling coordination, valve/stem repairs, and replacement of defective units.
- Accurately tag and document service work, inspection dates, and findings using company mobile app or service forms.
- Identify non-compliant or damaged equipment and recommend corrective actions to clients.
- Maintain inventory of replacement parts, extinguishers, and tools in service vehicle.
- Coordinate with supervisors for scheduling, supply orders, and hydrostatic test follow-up.
- Provide courteous, professional customer service and explain inspection results and recommended repairs.
- Adhere to company safety policies and safe driving practices while traveling between sites.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Prior experience inspecting or servicing portable fire extinguishers, fire suppression equipment, or as a fire protection technician preferred.
- Familiarity with NFPA 10 standard and Massachusetts fire code preferred; willing to learn.
- Valid Massachusetts driver’s license and clean driving record; ability to travel statewide.
- Strong attention to detail and good recordkeeping skills.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Professional, customer-focused communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage daily schedule.
Certifications (preferred or required)
- Certificate of training in portable fire extinguisher maintenance/inspection (preferred).
- Manufacturer-specific training a plus.
- OSHA 10 or similar safety training (preferred).
- Willingness to obtain relevant certifications as required by employer.
Work Schedule & Compensation
- Full-time; typical hours Monday–Friday with occasional evenings or weekends depending on client needs.
- Mileage reimbursement or company vehicle provided (specify based on your offering).
- Competitive pay: $18–$28/hour (adjust to local market and candidate experience).
