Duties
- Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize dental instruments following aseptic techniques to maintain a safe clinical environment
- Assist dentists during a variety of procedures including restorative, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry treatments
- Take and develop dental X-rays, ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols in accordance with HIPAA regulations
- Manage patient records using EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic, ensuring accurate medical documentation and coding
- Conduct vital signs assessments and medical imaging to support comprehensive patient evaluations
- Provide chairside assistance with four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize workflow efficiency
- Educate patients on dental terminology, post-treatment care, and oral health practices to promote ongoing wellness
Requirements
- Valid certification as a Registered Dental Assistant with current licensure in the applicable region
- Proven experience in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry environments, with familiarity in dental assisting procedures
- Proficiency with dental software platforms such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic for managing medical records and documentation
- Knowledge of infection control protocols, aseptic technique, anatomy, and dental terminology essential for safe practice
- Ability to operate X-ray equipment safely while adhering to radiation safety standards
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, medical coding, and electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Excellent communication skills as a dental receptionist when coordinating patient appointments and answering inquiries
