We are now accepting applications for Infection Control Nurse/Staff Development Nurse.
The hours are Monday- Friday 8am to 4:40pm. Paid days off begin to accrue immediately. BCBS free individual insurance with no waiting period.
The Infection Control/Staff Development Nurse is responsible for coordinating all aspects of the infection prevention and control program that meets the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) requirements including, but not limited to:
- Setting standards and evaluating infection prevention practices and outbreak investigations
- Maintain infection control policies and procedures
- Educating staff upon hire, annually, and as needed in relation to infection control
- Identify and document infections (Nosocomial and Community Acquired)
- Analyze infection and process measure data to evaluate performance
- Report and communicate to the public health department any reportable diseases or outbreaks
- Compiling, writing, and disseminating reports
- Perform random monthly observations of staff related to infection control practices
- Be an active member of the Quality Assurance Performance Improvement (QAPI) committee
- Work with QAPI committee/program and other key personnel to strengthen infection prevention practices
- Support antibiotic stewardship initiatives
These responsibilities also include identifying when a resident may need to be placed on isolation precautions, working with environmental services to prevent cross-contamination in the care environment, developing action plans to address opportunities for improvement, coordinating with employee health as needed, and implementing an annual infection control risk assessment process.
The Infection Control/Staff Development Nurse is responsible for planning, developing, directing, evaluating, and coordinating educational and on-the-job training programs. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Assume the authority, responsibility, and accountability of directing the in-service educational programs.
- Formulating goals and objectives of the in-service educational programs of the facility
- Incorporating commercially produced instruction material and training aids into existing in-service programs as necessary
- Develop evaluate and control the quality of in-service educational program in accordance with established policies and procedures
- Secure, develop, and maintain records, reports, instructional manuals, reference materials, etc. pertinent to in-service educational programs
- Assist licensed nursing personnel (i.e., RNs, LPNs, and CNAs) in obtaining in-service training to keep their license current in accordance with state law, and provide in-service training as necessary.
Requirements:
- Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in good standing and currently licensed by the Alabama Board of Nursing or hold a multi-state license.
- Demonstrate excellent written, oral, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary environment.
- Demonstrates ability to develop and implement educational programs.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred 1 year of nursing experience in a Long-Term Care Setting.
Nursing supervisory experience
Staff education experience
