This position is responsible for overseeing and supervising the organization’s payroll functions, ensuring pay is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with government regulations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
- Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates
- Ensures the team follows applicable processes and procedures. Maintains records to support transactions and provide documentation to the appropriate parties, including VOYA, government agencies, and others.
- Audits and submits data entry uploads for taxes and commissions such as uploads for taxes to ensure compliance with company, state, and federal laws
- Develops and maintains relationships with department peers focused on collaboration, honesty, integrity, and respect for each other
- Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
- Facilitates audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.
- Identifies and recommends updates to payroll processing software, systems, and procedures.
- Perform other duties assigned by management.
Education/Qualification:
- Must be located in the ATL area and be available for a hybrid schedule (in office M, Tu, and Th).
- 5+ years of progressive payroll management experience, including multi-state payroll processing.
- Strong knowledge of payroll compliance, including federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations, filings, and reporting requirements.
- Experience managing payroll audits and ensuring compliance with wage and hour laws.
- Hands-on experience with certified payroll and prevailing wage requirements.
- Proven ability to manage payroll processes for a large and/or complex workforce.
- Experience leading payroll teams and driving process improvements.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
- Associate degree or bachelor’s degree preferred
- Extensive knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes.
- Strong mathematical aptitude and analytical skills
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- Experience with Excel and be comfortable with managing excel generated reports.
- HRIS experience preferred
- Proficient with payroll software
- Effective communication skills and strong presentation skills; demonstrated ability to effectively deliver informative and engaging presentations
- Understands and applies complex information and data from various sources to meet objectives
- Manages multiple assignments, sets priorities, and adapts to changing conditions and work assignments
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive information with tact and discretion
- Workday Payroll experience (strongly preferred).
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification.
- Experience in construction, field services, or other industries with prevailing wage and certified payroll requirements.
- Experience with acquisitions, payroll integrations, or multi-entity payroll environments.
- Knowledge of union payroll and collective bargaining agreements.
- Experience with payroll system implementations or upgrades.

Physical Requirements:

Pay: $130,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
