Position Summary
The Yard Supervisor acts as the primary point of contact between the SSM Satellite Yard and HQ and as the primary manager for on-site administrative support. Uses knowledge of the crew and local customers to keep the yard efficient and profitable. Proposes strategic and tactical improvements to daily operations to improve efficiency, customer satisfaction, and material flow.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Personnel Management
● Responsible for the direct leadership of the yard crew, including daily staffing,
scheduling, and conflict resolution
Pricing Development
● Responsible for monitoring market trends and competitor activity
● Determines local pricing needs and submits pricing recommendations to the
Operations Manager for final approval
Leadership & Team Growth
● Directly manages Yards Manager and provides mentorship on grading and pricing
● Acts as the final authority on hiring, performance evaluations, and major disciplinary
actions.
Operational Execution
● Responsible for implementing company standards regarding material purchasing,
processing, and shipments
● Acts as the first point of contact for the yard crew and on-site customers. Responsible
for managing grading disputes and day-to-day operational issues
● Responsible for reporting yard needs to the Operations Manager and providing
suggestions for improvements based on local feedback and observations
● Empowered to make tactical adjustments to daily workflow to better serve the local
customer base and improve yard efficiency and profitability
● Responds to jobsite emergencies 24/7
Pay: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
