Duties include:
- Maintains safety and security of the pool and its patrons at all times
-
Rules are explained and enforced in a courteous, professional, and firm manner.

Knows/reviews all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately.

Maintain effective, positive relationships with members, participants and other staff.

Performs chemical testing , as required.

Participates in emergency drills and in service to the level in which staff have been trained.
Qualifications/Requirements:

Must be 15 years of age or older

Ability to maintain American Red Cross Lifeguard certification

Ability to work with a diverse population including children

Comfort in and around water
-
Must pass a background check (18 years of age or older)

Must pass a pre employment skill check
-
300 Yard Swim
-
2 minute water tread
-
Timed submerged brick retrieval
Maintains safe swimming conditions in the pool, deck, and surrounding areas. Creates a safe and positive atmosphere that promotes member safety and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.
