REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
- The Mechanic reports to the Fleet Manager.

ROLES AND RESPONSBILITIES
A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in working on light and heavy-duty truck and equipment/small engine in a shop and an on-site basis. Must have experience with some, if not all, of the following machinery:
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain light and heavy-duty diesel trucks, trailers, backhoes, skid-loaders, compressors, various other light equipment, small engine generators, and other construction machinery.
- Assisting Senior Mechanic: Under the guidance of experienced mechanic, junior mechanics assist with various tasks, including vehicle inspections, maintenance, and repairs.
- Performing Routine Maintenance: Perform basic maintenance tasks like oil changes, tire rotations, fluid level checks, and filter replacements.
- Learning Diagnostic Procedures: Learn to use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify vehicle issues under the supervision of senior mechanic.
- Following Instructions: Follow detailed technical instructions and procedures provided by supervisors or senior technicians.
- Maintaining Tools and Equipment: Ensure that tools and equipment are properly maintained and organized.
- Documenting Work: Accurately document all work performed and recommended on repair orders.
- Keeping the Shop Clean: Maintain cleanliness and safety of the shop and yard.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures and company policies
- Manage inventory of equipment and parts
- Other duties as assigned by management
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Basic Mechanical Knowledge: A foundational understanding of automotive systems and components is essential.
- Technical Aptitude: A natural ability to learn and apply technical skills is important.
- Problem-Solving Skills: The ability to identify and address basic mechanical issues is crucial.
- Communication Skills: The ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and customers is important.
- Attention to Detail: Accuracy and attention to detail are essential for performing tasks correctly.
- Willingness to Learn: A strong desire to learn and develop new skills is key to career advancement.
- Teamwork: The ability to work effectively as part of a team is important.
- Physical Stamina: Junior mechanics may need to lift and move heavy objects, so a certain level of physical stamina is required.
- Basic Hand Tool Proficiency: Proficiency in using hand tools is a must.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent: A high school diploma or equivalent is usually required.
- Valid Driver's License: A valid driver's license may be required for road testing vehicles.
- Valid Social Security Card
- Must possess own tools
- Basic welding skills preferred
- Basic computer skills required
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English
- Must be able to pass drug test and background checks
- Must be able to provide Motor Vehicle Record at time of job offer (current, within 15 days)
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION
- Minimum of 3+ years of experience in equipment repair and maintenance
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
- Proficient with computer applications related to equipment management and maintenance
- Some knowledge of OSHA and DOT Regulations
- Bilingual preferred.
