Guide to Personal Solutions (GPS) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit outpatient mental health agency in Lansing, Michigan. We work from one belief: challenges are opportunities to grow. Our clinicians treat depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, trauma, and related concerns, and we are committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion in both our care and our team. The Role
GPS is contracting a licensed therapist to provide outpatient therapy on a 1099 basis. You will carry a generalist caseload as well as trauma-specific work in alignment with your training. Therapist will be conducting assessments, developing and implementing treatment plans, delivering individual, couples, and/or family therapy, and maintaining timely, confidential clinical documentation in accordance with state and federal law.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough mental health assessments and diagnostic evaluations utilizing ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding standards.
- Provide individual, cou, and family therapy sessions using evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma-focused therapy, psychodynamic therapy, and behavioral therapy.
- Implement crisis intervention strategies and manage urgent cases with professionalism and sensitivity.
- Develop personalized treatment plans aligned with clinical documentation standards and ensure accurate medical documentation in EMR/EHR systems.
- Engage in case management activities, including patient care coordination, progress tracking, and follow-up assessments.
- Utilize telehealth platforms effectively to deliver high-quality remote therapy sessions while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support clients with co-occurring disorders, developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, PTSD, addiction issues, and other complex needs.
- Maintain current knowledge of clinical ethical guidelines, ICD coding updates, and medical terminology relevant to mental health practice.
Qualifications
- Full Michigan licensure as an LPC or LMSW (limited-license clinicians, LLPC/LLMSW, are not eligible)
- Master’s degree in counseling, social work, or a related field
- Ability to serve a generalist caseload across all socioeconomic levels, including trauma-specific presentations
- Experience with children and teens a bonus
- Proficiency with electronic clinical documentation

- TherapyPortal EHR provided — practice on the platform GPS already uses for client records and scheduling
Pay: $15,000.00 - $91,097.48 per year
