Westminster Nursery School is seeking an experienced, nurturing and enthusiastic Assistant Teacher to join our Twos and Threes program. The ideal candidate will have at least two years of experience working with young children and a commitment to creating a warm, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment. This part-time position works collaboratively with the Lead Teacher to support the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth of young children while fostering positive relationships with families and colleagues.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Assist the Lead Teacher in planning and implementing curriculum and classroom activities in accordance with the school's philosophy and objectives.
· Support the creation and maintenance of a safe, organized, and stimulating classroom environment.
· Assist with classroom organization, preparation of materials, cleanliness, and daily classroom routines.
· Participate actively in all classroom activities and provide support to children as needed.
· Share responsibility for housekeeping duties within the classroom and common areas.
· Collaborate with the Lead Teacher regarding lesson plans, classroom responsibilities, and children's developmental progress.
· Attend staff meetings, training sessions and other professional development opportunities.
· Assist with school-sponsored events, including Open House, fundraisers, and family programs.
· Maintain proper care and storage of classroom materials and equipment.
· Communicate any unusual classroom circumstances or concerns to the Director.
· Comply with all applicable licensing regulations and school policies.
· Maintain required clearances and certifications.
· Participate in ongoing professional development (minimum 12 hours).
Qualifications
Candidates must meet one of the following qualifications:
· High School Diploma or GED and 30 credit hours in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, Elementary Education, or Human Services; or
· High School Diploma or GED and 600 or more hours of training as described in Pennsylvania Code 3270.31; or
· High School Diploma or GED, 15 credit hours in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, Elementary Education, or Human Services, and one year of experience working with children; or
· High School Diploma or GED and two years of experience working with children ages birth to six; or
· Valid Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential and one year of experience working with children.
Candidates must have at least 2-years of verifiable childcare experience.
Physical Requirements
· Frequent standing, sitting on the floor, and movement.
· Indoor and outdoor supervision of children.
· Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds and, in case of emergency, a 40-pound child.
